Patricia Brennan, Vice President of Science Technology, and Theofanis Karaletsos, Head of AI for Science, recently joined STAT reporter Nicholas St. Fleur for a sponsored fireside chat session at the STAT 2024 Breakthrough Summit West — an annual convening that brings together leaders in technology and biomedicine to explore the frontiers of science and medicine. Their conversation focused on the potential and promise of AI for deepening the scientific community’s understanding of human biology, including CZI’s vision to build virtual cell models that can help scientists predict the behavior of healthy and diseased cells. These virtual cell models will have broad applications for biomedical research, disease diagnosis, and therapeutic development — bringing scientists closer to curing, preventing or managing all diseases by the end of this century.
